FRY CLUB COLTS          2

FRAMPTON ATH            2

This was an important game for us as Frampton were one of the few teams below us in the division, so it was a vital 3 points.

We had a squad of 16 players for this match and it provided an opportunity to give a first start to Jason Oliver in attack with James Boulton and new signing Dean Lapham at right midfield.  However, we started the game very slow with little passing and possession. Craig Francis in goal though proved very strong with his handling and kicking. Once the game settled down, the ball was worked out wide on several occasions which resulted in a couple of half chances. However, following a direct attack down the middle of the Frampton defence, the ball broke loose and Jason Oliver neatly tucked the ball away to put us one up. This gave us confidence and further opportunities were created, notably a great left drive by Dean Lapham which the keeper only just managed to hold onto. Once again Oli Randall led the defence well and we went into half time not conceding, but only leading 1 – 0.

With a positive team talk at half time, we started the second half as we finished the first. However, we were unable to increase our lead which proved costly as Frampton broke away from our corner and following several good passes scored an untimely goal. To add to our disappointment, they then scored a second from a corner with 15 minutes left. Reece Tucker was unlucky as he saw his shot hit the bar from close range and we were also forced to make 2 changes due to injuries to James Hurrell Smith and Ben Bowden. This ultimately helped our cause as a cross from Kyle Curtis on the left was guided into the back of the net by Mo Bouaziz with a brilliant header. We could then have won the game as a shot from Mo Bouaziz was spilled by the keeper and James Boulton followed up but just put the ball wide. 2 minutes later another half chance fell to James which the keeper saved well.

So, another 2 points dropped but this was to give us our third draw on the bounce so unbeaten in 3 games would make us feel better.

Some good performances by Craig in goal, Ben Bowden, James Boulton and Mo Bouaziz helped today but the Man of the Match was awarded to Oli Randall for another outstanding defensive display.
